Hall of Fame coach Nick Saban, one of the most accomplished and decorated coaches in history, is an Emmy-nominated college football analyst for ESPN. Saban joined the network and its award-winning weekly college football road show, College GameDay Built by The Home Depot, in February 2024 after retiring from the University of Alabama.
Over 28 years as a college coach, Saban’s uncompromising dedication to excellence resulted in unprecedented success. He captured seven national championships, including six at Alabama (one at LSU) with a head coaching record of 297-71-1. His teams won 12 conference championships – including 11 SEC titles – and 19 bowl games, and Saban’s teams never had a losing record for a season. A seven-time National Coach of the Year, Saban achieved resounding success and earned the reputation as an outstanding tactician, leader, organizer and motivator. Saban will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2025 class.
In addition to his 17 years at Alabama (2007-23), Saban also served as head coach at LSU (2000-04), Michigan State (1995-99) and Toledo (1990). He was also head coach of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins (2005-06). A native of Fairmont, West Virginia, Saban is a 1973 graduate of Kent State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Kent State in 1975. Saban and his wife Terry have always been focused on helping their local communities, including through the Nick’s Kids Foundation, which has distributed more than $15 million to students, teachers and children’s causes at countless organizations. In Tuscaloosa’s River District, the family is also building the Saban Center, a first-of-its-kind STEM and arts campus where education, experience and innovation meet.
